Avery Corman's The Boyfriend from Hell is a fast paced and engrossing read.  Corman keeps the story moving right from the beginning.  Rather than getting stuck in the ditch during character development, Corman introduces characters over time, allowing us to enjoy the story.

While working on an article on a satanic cult, Veronica Delaney, a freelance writer in New York City, meets a man who seems wonderful in every way.  Richard, who claims to be a professor of theology, charms Veronica into a relationship built on lust.

When Richard helps to get Veronica a book deal that she can't refuse, she becomes engrossed in her research on satanic cults.  As she continues deeper into her research, Ronnie starts blacking out for periods of time, dreaming of the devil, and gaining new unexplained talents in her waking hours.  When the leader of a satanic cult dies after Ronnie's visit, she becomes a murder suspect in a high profile case.  The evidence is stacked against her and Veronica can't recall what happened during the visit.

As the work begins to take a toll on her psychological well-being, everyone closest to her begs her to stop, except for her distant but charming Richard. Is Richard being supportive of her talents, or does he have an agenda of his own?
